Peace and Quiet
At the Belvedere degli Olivi you will find peace
and quiet.
The olive trees slumber outside the old city
built of bricks and stone, creating a curtain to
screen out the noise and frenzy of daily life.
They chaperon the roads and the rustling sound
of the foliage tells an ancient story. They
restore a life that befits the human soul. With
a unique virtue: Beauty.
In the words of Epitteto, the Greek philosopher,
olive trees are ‘a gift of a benevolent God’
“Beauty exudes slowly from things, and is denied
for those who pass quickly.
I saw Umbria in September, slumbering in the
silence of the landscape still burning. I saw it
again in April, during its glorious awakening.
Smiling or tired, to me it seemed equally
beautiful...”

des paysages, Parigi, 1905) |

Awe
The Belvedere degli Olive unveils awe.
From the olive tree that rises at the gate of
Spello, to the olive trees mirrored on the
Trasimeno Lake and the ascending stone terraces
on the hills from Assisi to Spoleto.
Umbria without olive trees would be like a
cloudless sky.
Every hill is a unique observatory that
inebriates the eyes and soothes the spirit
“In the early morning, the tips of the leaves
glitter like diamonds, so smooth and bright is
their surface. The rest, left in the shadow,
forms a pale green fog that clashes with the
reddish grey of the tree trunks, appearing here
and there with hints of darker colours...”

of half a Century, 1919) |

Taste
The Belvedere degli Olivi tingles your taste
buds.
An extraordinary land and a bountiful tradition,
combined with innovation in the production
process, yields a precious and highly demanded
fruit: extravirgin olive oil, which boasts first
place in the D.O.P. category in the Region since
1998.
Umbrian oil has a fresh fruity scent. It
enhances the flavours of the traditional
cuisine, emanating intense aromas.
"The pacific tree beloved to Pallade symbolises
here war more than peace. However, due to a
strange contrast, delicate foliage covers these
tormented tree trunks, and nothing is more
seductive than the glitter of the miniscule
leaves shining in the sunlight like silver
flakes...
(Gabriel Faure, Heures d'Ombrie, 1907) |
